How fees work

Here is how paying works, in the order most patients ask.

  • Insurance we work with

We're in network with many PPO plans and file those claims for you. Plans that aren't on that list are out of network: we give you a receipt to send to the plan. We aren't enrolled with Medicaid or CHIP.

    • Many PPO plans, in network

    • Other plans, out of network

    • Not enrolled with Medicaid or CHIP

  • If you pay yourself

Without insurance you pay at the visit, and you'll know the fee first, in writing. A walk-in visit works the same way. Financing is offered by third-party lenders. Approval and terms are set by the lender.

    • Pay at the visit

    • The fee in writing, before treatment

    • Third-party financing, set by the lender

  • Receipts for reimbursement

After each visit we give you an itemized receipt with the procedure codes. If your plan reimburses out-of-network care, you can send it in. The plan decides whether to pay and how much.

    • Itemized, every visit

    • Procedure codes included

  • An estimate in advance

You can ask for a written estimate before any treatment. If you're paying without insurance, we give you a written estimate in advance, when you schedule or whenever you ask. It lists the visit, each step we expect and the fee for each. A walk-in gets one before treatment begins.

    • Written, before treatment

    • Each step and its fee

    • Take it home before you decide

  • Checking your benefits

Call with your plan details, or bring your card. We check what the plan says it covers and tell you before treatment. A plan's answer is an estimate until it processes the claim.

    • Bring your card

    • We check before treatment

    • An estimate until the plan decides

  • What the first visit includes

About an hour: a talk about what's bothering you, an exam by one of the dentists, X-rays only if they're needed, and a written plan and estimate. A walk-in visit is shorter and starts with the problem. Fill in your health history on our private patient portal, not by email or in the contact form.

    • A talk, then an exam

    • X-rays only if needed

    • Health history on the portal

    New-patient forms

Questions about paying

Do you take my insurance?

We're in network with many PPO plans and out of network with the rest. The How fees work page explains each case. Call with your card and we'll check what your plan says before treatment.

What if I don't have insurance?

You pay at the visit, and you'll have the fee in writing before we start. Ask for a written estimate when you schedule or when you walk in.

Do you accept Medicaid or CHIP?

The How fees work page answers this for every plan we know about, in one place.

Can I get a written estimate before treatment?

Yes. You get one before any treatment, including after a walk-in exam. It lists each step and its fee.

Questions about your plan?

Call with your card and we'll tell you what it says before you come in.
